A 36-year-old Laval, Canada man broke into Celine Dion’s home in the Montreal suburb, raided her refrigerator and drew the water to take a bath before police arrested him, the Huffington Post is reporting. Police were tipped off about the break-in after the alarm system went off. The singer and her husband, Rene Angelil, weren’t in the home at the time of the break-in, as they usually live in Florida, but they use the Laval residence when they return to Quebec.
Laval police spokesman Franco Di Genova confirmed that Bedard was getting ready to take a bath, and had eaten some pastries from the refrigerator, before a canine unit responded to the scene. The police started searching the house in the basement, and confronted him on the main floor. As the police encountered Bedard, he was coming down the staircase, asking what the officers were doing in the home. They responded by asking what he was doing there, and proceeded to arrest him.
Di Genova said Bedard jumped a fence to get on the property. He used a garage door opener he found in an unlocked vehicle to get into the house. Bedard has since been arraigned on several charges, including breaking and entering, auto theft and causing property damage.
