Prosecutors in Riverside, California have charged Jeremy London with domestic violence after he got into a fight with his estranged wife, Melissa Cunningham, on November 18, 2011, MSNBC is reporting. The Riverside District Attorney’s Office said the misdemeanor count was filed by prosecutors after Cunningham filed a police report against the actor. The report alleged London assaulted her outside her Palm Springs home after they got into an argument over custody of their child. After the report was filed, a warrant was issued for London’s arrest. If convicted of the charge, he could face up to a year in jail.
The charges come after London and Cunningham were reportedly approached to do a reality show, and they needed to film more fighting for the show. She even approached London’s twin brother, Jason, and his wife, asking them to participate, since they haven’t been on the best terms with him. With the show’s premise, London’s brother and his wife didn’t believe Cunningham’s abuse claims.
London said the allegation is false, and is “just more of (Melissa’s) insanity. I’d never lay a finger on a woman. The only allegation is that I pulled her hair.” His rep added “The allegation is false and no such abuse occurred. It is unfortunate that the DA’s Office has elected to reward (Melissa’s) malicious behavior and disregard the facts regarding the incident.” However, Cunningham hasn’t officially commented on the case.
