Do you think you’ve got what it takes to become the next big thing in Hollywood? Thanks to the concept of the Peoplemercial, developed by comedian Pauly Shore and Youtoo TV, you can become celebrity by simply sending in a video.
Entering in the Peoplemercial contest is simple–shoot and upload a creative 30-second video to Youtoo.com. You can then watch your video on national cable just like a normal TV commercial.
Shore is covering the cost of all Peoplemercials uploaded through January 30, and the person with the most creative Peoplemercial will win a free trip to LA to hang out with him for the day. Also, donations will be made to the ASPCA for every video uploaded.
Shore said there’s no real limit on what people can send in. “It can be about whatever it is you do that is appealing,” he said.
Also, any video showing outstanding talent could win, whether it’s a video dealing with comedy or other talents. “It could either be something that’s written really well with good actors, or something spontaneous,” he said. “Or you could be really good at singing and it just blows us away. You just don’t know.”
This contest is great for someone who wants to break into the business but doesn’t really have the means to move all the way to California. “What’s great is that you don’t have to move to Hollywood to become a celebrity,” Shore said. “If you’re really good then people will know about you.”
Aside from looking for the next big talent with Peoplemercials, Shore will also be in “Whiskey Business,” a film that Shore described as “‘Son-in-Law’ meets ‘Jersey Shore’ meets ‘Cocktail’,” will air on CMT in March (“I’m pretty happy with it,” he said). He will also be organizing the 40th anniversary of the Comedy Store, which was founded by his mother, Mitzi. For more information on the Peoplemercial contest, make sure to go to Yootoo TV.
