Captain Phillips Sailing Home with Blu-ray and Digital Dowload Release

‘Captain Phillips’ will be sailing home on Tuesday as Sony Pictures releases the acclaimed action thriller on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital Download. The drama’s Blu-ray will feature a making of documentary, as well as commentary with director Paul Greengrass.

Tom Hanks, Catherine Keener and Barkhad Abdi star in ‘Captain Phillips,’ which opened in theaters in October to critical acclaim and box office success. The drama, which was written by Billy Ray and Richard Phillips, was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards this past Sunday, including Best Actor-Motion Picture Drama and Best Motion Picture-Drama.

The thriller chronicles the standoff between the Alabama’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips (Hanks), and the Somali pirate captain, Muse (Abdi), who takes him hostage. Phillips and Muse become entangled on an unstoppable collision course after the pirate and his crew target the captain and his unarmed ship. In the following standoff, which takes place 145 miles off the Somali coast, both men will find themselves at the mercy of forces beyond their control.
