The poster for Universal Picture’s upcoming action-thriller sequel, ‘F9,’ which was directed by Justin Lin.

High-octane action, including speedy chases, is one of the most anticipated highlights of every Super Bowl. But that battle isn’t always just presented on the football field; during tonight’s game, the conflict was also brought to life during the commercials, particularly the unveiling of the new ‘F9’ clip, which is titled ‘Hallelujah.’

The debut of ‘Hallelujah’ continues the ‘Fast and Furious‘ franchise’s history of premiering trailers and clips during the Super Bowl. The tradition of presenting new footage from the long-running and beloved action-adventure franchise dates back to ‘Fast Five‘ trailer, which was shown during Super Bowl XLV in 2011.

‘F9’ is set to be released in theaters on May 22, courtesy of Universal Pictures. The ninth chapter in the ‘Fast and Furious‘ franchise stars returning series cast members Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron. The thriller sees the return of director Justin Lin, who previously helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth entries in the franchise. Diesel and Lin also served as producers on the eighth sequel, which was written by Dan Casey.

Universal Pictures has unveiled the following synopsis for ‘F9’:

‘F9’ follows Dom Toretto (Diesel), who’s leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty (Rodriguez) and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (Cena). Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.
