Bono has undergone emergency back surgery, Popeater.com reported on May 21. The U2 singer suffered an injury while rehearsing for the band’s world tour, his spokesperson confirmed via a statement.
The announcement also states that Bono will spend a few days at a Munich hospital, and then will go home to recover. However, no details were given on what exactly the injury was.
As of now, there’s no official word yet on how the injury will affect the band’s upcoming U.S. tour. Bono’s spokesperson added that another statement will be issued regarding the concert dates “once his condition has been assessed further.”
The band was supposed to start the tour on June 13 in Salt Lake city, and continue throughout July. The tour was then scheduled to head overseas in August, and is a continuation of last year’s U2 360 tour, which was the year’s most profitable show, making just short of $110 million worldwide.
