A Michigan couple was convicted on July 15 of trying to extort money from John Stamos, Popeater.com is reporting. Allison Coss, who is 24, and 31-year-old Scott Sippola, both from Marquette, threatened the actor that unless he paid them $680,000, they would sell old pictures of him with strippers and cocaine to the tabloids.
Coss and Sippola were convicted in federal court, and face up to five years in prison. They were found guilty of conspiracy and using e-mail to threaten a person’s reputation. The two were arrested at an Upper Peninsula airport in December after Stamos told police people were trying to extort him.
In the couple’s defense, lawyers said they didn’t commit a crime by offering to give the pictures to Stamos before they gave them to the celebrity media. The FBI didn’t even turn up the alleged pictures after searching Coss and Sippola’s home, cars and computer. In response to the couple’s defense, the former ‘ER’ actor released a written statement, saying he was “shocked and perplexed” by the “false stories.”
