In response to her recent 90-day jail sentence, Lindsay Lohan has hired a new lawyer, Robert Shapiro, to represent her, PEOPLE reported on July 16. Shapiro is known for successfully defending Hollywood celebrities, including O.J. Simpson during his murder trial.

Shapiro released a statement saying that he agreed to represent Lohan on the condition that “…she complies with all of the terms of her probation, including a requirement of jail time that was imposed by Judge Marsha Revel.” He added that he’s all to familiar with substance abuse, as he founded Pickford Lfts, the sober living house Lohan checked into on July 14, after his son Brent died in 2005 of a drug overdose.

However, Los Angeles Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini said that the required paperwork for the switch has been filed yet. “If she has a new attorney, both the outgoing attorney and the incoming attorney have to file substitution of counsel notice,” Parachini said.
