Rich Cronin, who rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the boy band LFO, suffered from a stroke on September 8 and died in the hospital, TMZ is reporting. The confirmation came from Cronin’s brother, who also said the stroke was linked to Rich’s battle with acute myelogenous leukemia.
Cronin was diagnosed with leukemia in 2005, but had been in remission several times. He later started the Rich Cronin Hope Foundation to raise awareness about the disease, and to encourage people to donate bone marrow.
LFO had two top 10 Billboard hits off its 1999 self-titled debut album, including its most famous song, ‘Summer Girls.’ ‘Girl on TV,’ which was written by Cronin about Jennifer Love Hewitt, who he later dated, also charted. The group had another hit, ‘Every Other Time,’ off its 2001 album, ‘Life is Good.’
