Michael Rosenbaum has finally put the rumors about whether or not he will be returning to ‘Smallville’ for its series finale to rest. After nearly a year of speculation, the actor has confirmed that he will reprise his role of Superman villain Lex Luthor in the hit show’s final episode, airing May 13, 2011, tvline.com is reporting.
Rosenbaum said that he’s “delighted to return for the series finale. I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made ‘Smallville’ the great success it is.” He added that he appreciates the fans’ passion and relentlessness. Rosenbaum also admitted that he’s looking forward to heading back to the show’s set in Vancouver to “see all of my old friends once again.”
The announcement came after several other characters, including Jonathan and Martha Kent and Lionel Luthor, already returned for the series’ tenth and last season. ‘Smallville’s main star and executive producer, Tom Welling, even admitted he would even like to have Lex return for the finale, saying “With Clark propelled into being Superman, how do you do it without a Lex Luthor?”
