If you’ve been following the Conrad Murray case, you might already be thinking that the defense is having an uphill battle trying to prove Michael Jackson self-medicated on June 25, 2009, the day of his death. But now that one of the attorneys associated with the case had an appearance on “The Today Show,” the judge over the case, Michael Pastor, ordered a gag rule on the proceedings Friday.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Judge Pastor was furious when he saw that attorney Matthew Alford said on the morning show that his team would do their best to keep Murray out of the witness stand as long as possible and also reiterated their thesis in their defense–that Jackson was addicted to propofol.
Pastor said that the defense and prosecutors involved in the case “are ordered not to comment to anyone outside of their respective teams either directly or indirectly regarding any aspects of this case, whether orally or in writing.”
I don’t see how this can be a good thing for the defense; I’m no attorney, but I don’t think the defense is helping their client, Murray, by getting in trouble.
In any case, what do you think about the gag order? Write about it in the comments section below.
