Dr. Drew Pinsky has encouraged people not to pass judgment on Lindsay Lohan, and instead offer prayer for the troubled Hollywood starlet, after her latest arrest, Celebuzz is reporting. Following the ‘Liz & Dick’ star’s arrest for fighting with a woman in New York nightclub Avenue on November 29, the ‘Celebrity Rehab’ host admitted he was worried for her.
While at the CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute in Los Angeles on Sunday, Dr. Drew said Lohan’s repeated insistence that she doesn’t need treatment “is what denial is all about.” He added that “denial makes people not perceive the consequences, not see the relationship between what they’re doing, or see their role in all of it.”
The renowned addiction specialist added “We need to pray for her and not point, or hold her in disdain.” Dr. Drew added that he hopes Lohan “makes it through this to some kind of sobriety, some day.”
However, the board-certified doctor in internal medicine and addiction medicine emphasized that the question is how much it is going to take to make Lohan stick to sobriety. “More often than not it is some sort of horrible, horrible event that gets through—a near death experience, loss of freedom or loss of children— those kinds of things. But some people just have a spiritual awakening—and I pray for that, for her,” he said.
While Dr. Drew doesn’t treat Lohan, he said “I know her parents are very, very concerned about her and well they should be. An adult child with big issues is really hard to deal with.”
Lohan was arrested and charged with third-degree misdemeanor assault after allegedly punching fellow nightclub goer Tiffany Ava Mitchell at Avenue. On the same day, she was charged with three more crimes from her car accident in June on the Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles.
