Happy Feet 2

Happy Feet Two Movie Review

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

Title: Happy Feet Two Director: George Miller Starring the Voices: Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Ava Acres, Pink, Sofia Vergara, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Common, Hugo Weaving, Hank Azaria Talk about a versatile director. George Miller, who years ago was at the helm for all the gritty and violent Mad Max films, dials up some of the most tender and heartfelt moments depicted on screen this year with “Happy Feet Two.” As of today, the front-runner for Best Animated Film for 2011 has arrived. And for someone (me) who historically pans the 3D gimmick, it’s actually put to good use in this 105 minute presentation. We pick up with the dancing…

The Smurfs Will Have a Sequel

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

I don’t think anyone is really itching for there to be a sequel to “The Smurfs,” but since the movie did so surprisingly well monetarily, even getting close to beating blockbuster “Cowboys & Aliens” and making $135 million throughout its run thus far, talk of a sequel was sure to follow. According to Filmonic and Deadline, the film will have a sequel for August 2, 2013. Who knows what the story will be. I suppose even though the film was panned by nearly every critic, it is saying something when these weird blue creatures can take on Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford and almost best them one of the things…

The Smurfs has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Yikes!

Friday, July 29th, 2011

Granted, it’s still early, but with seven reviews in at Rotten Tomatoes, it looks like “The Smurfs” didn’t exceed anyone expectations. If anything, it seems like they didn’t even meet the low expectations people had in the first place. The film is currently at a 0% rating. Most of the critics seem to be saying that the film uses gimmicks and plot devices from films like “Alvin and the Chipmunks” (which is very apparent even from the trailers), “Garfield,” “Hop,” and others. They are also saying that the film is unoriginal and practically torture for adults (which is ironic, seeing how adults are the ones that actually grew up with…

The Smurfs Movie Review

Friday, July 29th, 2011

Title: The Smurfs Director: Raja Gosnell Starring: Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris, Sofia Vergara, Jayma Mays (voice cast listed below) Thank you Hank Azaria for continuing to bring your A-game even if everything else around you is a Smurfing mess. His portrayal of the sinister wizard Gargamel is the life-force that will keep the adults involved. The only other aspect to keep the generation that grew up with “The Smurfs” attentive is to count how many subtle sexual innuendos are coming out of Smurfette’s mouth (voiced by Katy Perry); something the movie enjoys addressing every so often (or I was just that bored creating things to entertain myself). Other than…

New Year's Eve trailer hits the web

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

“There’s going to be more celebrities here than rehab,” says Katherine Heigl’s cahracter in the newly-released “New Year’s Eve” trailer. While the character was talking about people being in Times Square for New Year’s Eve, that statement could have applied to the movie itself. Just like its predecessor “Valentine’s Day,” it seems like everyone who’s alive in Hollywood is in this movie. The trailer, which is embedded below, shows a lot but really nothing at all except for fluffy, happy, easy-going rom-com movie tidbits. Basically, the story is the same as “Valentine’s Day,” except that Ashton Kutcher and Jessica Biel are playing two different characters (I assume Hector Elizondo, who…

Sofia Vergara Out Of The Paperboy

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Deadline is reporting that “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara has bowed out of the Lee Daniels-directed drama “The Paperboy”. The reasoning for Vergara cancelling her appearance in the film has to deal with what 70 per cent of cancellations are caused by–conflicting schedules. According to the site, the beginning of filming “The Paperboy” conflicted with the beginning of filming for “Modern Family”. According to an insider, she was left with no choice. “‘Modern Family’ is her first priority, so once she was made aware of the change in schedule, she had no choice but to pull.” However, Vergara will be seen in “The Three Stooges”, a film adaption of the…

Sofia Vergara's Boyfriend May Run for Florida's Governor

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Sofia Vergara ma become the first lady of Florida, as her boyfriend, Nick Loeb, is expressing interest in running for governor, the New York Post reported on August 31. However, the ‘Modern Family’ actress and Emmy nominee won’t put her television career on hold if he does win, like Arnold Arnold Schwarzenegegger’s wife, Maria Shriver, did with her journalism career. Loeb has previously run unsuccessfully for the Florida senate and the Delray Beach city commission. Page 2 Live, the Palm Beach Post’s gossip site, doubts Loeb would win the governor race either, as they said he’s a “trust-funder who lost or quit every political race he entered.” He also left Florida politics…
