Taylor Swift could be taking on the role of Joni Mitchell in the forthcoming drama ‘Girls Like Us’, a role that would add to her acting resume after the artist just turned up in the kids movie ‘The Lorax’ as the voice of Audrey. According to Variety, the twenty-two year old Swift would play the Canadian artist in a big screen adaption that comes from author Sheila Weller’s book with the same name. The movie centers on Mitchell and singers Carly Simon and Carole King.
Swift has yet to be officially cast or offered the part for that matter, but many won’t be shocked when the news rolls out that the country star is on board. Currently the movie, that will be directed by Katie Jacobs (House M.D.), is still looking to fill the roles of both Simon and King. Actress Alison Pill has auditioned for the part of King, but word on whether or not she has scored the role has yet to be revealed. The true story screenplay was penned by John Sayles of both ‘Lone Star’ and ‘Sunshine State’ fame. Production on ‘Girls Like Us’ is rumored to begin next year with the hopes that casting news will be revealed soon.
