Taylor Swift has already given her voice to the soundtrack of “The Hunger Games”; now, she’s going to be partnering with Viacom for what is being marketed as MTV’s “first global music video premiere,” according to Reuters. According to the article, the music video at the center of the premiere, Swift’s “Safe & Sound,” featuring the Civil Wars, will air Feb. 13. According to Van Toffler, the president of Viacom Music & Logo Group, the video is set to reach 600+ households worldwide. Lately, everyone’s been making “Shit [insert group here] Says” videos, ranging from white girls, black girls, Indian girls, girls in general, black mothers, web designers, yogis, vegans, hipsters, cats…the list goes on (you can actually view a list at Mashable). Popdust has decided to get in on the meme craze with their own “People Say” video. Since they’re a music/pop-culture based site, theirs features Adele. According to Popdust, Adele seems to say a lot of funny and outrageous things in her interviews and on her blog, so they’ve decided to feature some of the things Adele might say and turn it into a viral 2 minutes and 39 second video….

If there’s anything that’s just as anticipated as the film adaptation of “The Hunger Games,” it’s the soundtrack to the film adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” News about the soundtrack has been coming out in a slow trickle, but finally, the biggest news since the release of Taylor Swift and the Civil Wars’ single has been announced–the release of the cover art on the film’s official Facebook page. The cover art for the soundtrack, subtitled, “Songs for District 12 and Beyond,” is standard, to say the least. It’s basically a cropped version of the poster showing Katniss. You can view the cover below the post. You can also learn more…

The 21st Century has done away with A & R representatives and has replaced them with YouTube. While this statement might not become entirely true for a few more years, the music industry has frequently been relying on the video-sharing website to discover the rare talent that is overlooked. Thanks to Justin Bieber’s relentless Internet persistency, the music world has been infected with Bieber fever. Luckily, the high temperatures have subsided due to the latest YouTube breakout artist, Walk Off The Earth. The Burlington, Ontario based band’s cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” has gone viral with over 40 million views on YouTube. The quintet, which consists…

Andrew W.K. has stood the music industry’s test of time without compromising the 2001 qualities he trended before Twitter was even the fad. The media phenomenon didn’t need the help of a hash tag to attract worldwide attention; all he needed was his positively untamed personality meshed with punk-pop melodies. The iconic Andrew W.K. elements created his debut album, “I Get Wet”, which dropped November 19th 2001 via Island Def Jam Music Group and produced the hits, “Party Hard” and “She Is Beautiful”. The head-to-toe donned in white rocker hosts the Cartoon Network show, “Destroy, Build, Destroy” and is a frequent guest on the Fox News late-night program, “Red Eye…

Wow. Yes, a rather vague way to begin a Shockya post, but watch this video from the Canadian band, Walk Off The Earth, and attempt to say the word isn’t a fitting introduction. The clip features the group performing a cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know”. Multiply that beginning “wow” a few million times because the video has gone viral worldwide with 40 million views on Youtube. The intimate video is no Rebecca Black phenomenon for all the right reasons. You will not merely be clicking play just to follow a confusing trend. Walk Off The Earth’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” deserves the plethora of…

The CW Television Network recycles storylines for its programs as much as it does the actors in them. Yes, Blair Waldorf could marry Lucas Scott and Dan Humphrey and Peyton Sawyer would probably make the most brooding couple ever to watch, but none of that matters, only the music does. The CW song placement in these plot repetitive shows keeps the programs afloat. The network is so very adept in finding a song that will turn cheesy emotions into tear jerking ones. If you aren’t convinced of this CW talent then tune into the upcoming episode of “90210″ on January 31st. The All American Rejects’ new single, “Beekeeper’s Daughter”, is…

Female-fronted rock bands have been on the ShockYa radar quite frequently in 2012. First with the rock sextet, Valora, and now with the Australian band, Tonight Alive. Yes, much of the coverage on Valora has been comparing the outfit to Paramore, but the Hayley Williams fronted group has paved the way for women to dodge the pop path and take the more authentic route. So, Tonight Alive accept this comparison with the utmost respect. The pop-punk band released their second single, “Starlight”, on iTunes. Tonight Alive takes the fiery spunk heard in “Misery Business” and blends that with the soft and innocent sound heard in “Hallelujah” to create a single…

One of the scenes that “Twilight” fans are waiting on in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ is the father-daughter scene showing Edward and Renesmee playing the piano together. Composer Carter Burwell discussing his work on “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” with Sag Harbor Online. When asked about when he comes aboard the filming process, he said, “Generally, I don’t actually write anything until a film has actually been shot. But, there are some exceptions. In the movie I’m working on right now, which is ‘Breaking Dawn: Part II,” they needed Rob Pattinson and the actress who plays his daughter to play piano onscreen. I had to write this…
