Anna Paquin is finally revealing why she decided to go public with the news that she is bisexual in a public service announcement (PSA) for the Give a Damn campaign earlier this year. The Academy Award-winning actress told Zap2It on June 4 that although she is engaged to her ‘True Blood’ co-star Stephen Moyer, her sexuality wasn’t “a big secret.”

“I’m not someone who endlessly talks about her personal life for no reason,” Paquin said. She added that there are issues that she really cares about, including gay awareness. “…When I was asked to participated in that PSA, it was just an obvious, ‘Well, of course I will.’

Paquin also said that she privately supported the Give a Damn campaign before taping the PSA, but never had an instance to speak about it in a useful manner. “Obviously I know that one person’s voice doesn’t necessarily do that much, but I just wanted to do my bit.”
