Russell Brand was immediately deported from Japan when he arrived in Tokyo on May 22 to watch his wife Katy Perry perform in concert, FOXNews is reporting. The singer confirmed the news through her Twitter account, tweeting “my husband just got deported…I am so sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place.”
The ‘E.T.’ singer later tweeted that her husband’s deportation “was for priors from over 10 years ago!” She also said that her Japanese concert tour, which is scheduled to make stops in Osaka and Nagoya, won’t be interrupted.
Immigration officials in Tokyo wouldn’t confirm or deny Perry’s tweets, saying “We don’t make comments on such matter(s) because of privacy concerns.” But Brand later poked fun at the incident, tweeting “Planning escape from Japanese custody. It’s bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick.”
