Mike O'Brien

“Saturday Night Live” has been trimming the roster as of late. Real Humans

“Humans” was once a part of Xbox’s original programming lineup, but now AMC has taken up the slack after the gaming service’s filming studio closed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC has announced that it has acquired the domestic rights to the sci-fi drama series, which was produced by both Xbox and the UK’s Channel 4. The series comes from Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley and is an English-language adaptation of Sveriges Television and Matador Film’s “Real Humans.” Originally, “Humans” was on Xbox, so what happened? According to The Hollywood Reporter, two months after Microsoft closed Xbox Entertainment Studios, their original series like “Humans” and the oft-mentioned “Halo” live-action adaptation  [ Read More ]

Everyone’s favorite “Robin,” Dick Grayson, might be coming back to television with his Teen Titan cohorts in a brand new television show. The Hollywood Reporter is stating that TNT is nearing a pilot-production order for “Titans,” based on the popular “Teen Titans” comic book by DC Comics. “Titans” is being billed as a drama with Marc Haimes and Akiva Goldsman attached as writers. Goldsman will act as executive producer with Haimes as co-executive producer. The show, as you can probably already tell, will involve Grayson–who has left his “Robin” moniker for the new name “Nightwing”–and fellow superheroes Starfire, Raven, and others. I’m assuming “others” includes Aqualad, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash  [ Read More ]

Gotham Fox

Listen, I will personally remain skeptical about FOX’s Batman-based show “Gotham” until I view the pilot myself, but it would seem that most of the television critics out there love it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Gotham” was named the Most Promising New Show by the Television Critics Association. “Gotham” was also named best drama, with “The Affair” taking second place. Third place went to Shonda Rhimes’ latest offering for ABC, “How to Get Away with Murder.” Other fall shows were also given commendations, such as ABC’s “Black-ish” for best comedy with “Jane the Virgin” and NBC’s “A to Z.” Gina Rodriguez, who stars in “Jane the Virgin,” was named  [ Read More ]
